About the Role

Our client, a growing TVET institution with five campuses across different locations in Kenya, is seeking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and results-oriented College Principal to provide overall leadership and direction across the institution.

The successful College Principal will be responsible for providing strategic, academic, operational and business leadership across all five campuses. The ideal candidate should be a strong academic and business leader with experience managing teams, maintaining TVET compliance, improving institutional performance and driving sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Institutional Leadership

• Provide overall strategic leadership and direction across all five campuses.
• Develop and implement institutional strategies, policies and operational plans.
• Coordinate the performance of campus heads and ensure consistency in standards across all locations.
• Build a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork and continuous improvement.
• Represent the institution before regulators, partners, industry stakeholders and other relevant bodies.

Academic & TVET Leadership

• Ensure compliance with TVET regulatory, accreditation and quality requirements across all campuses.
• Oversee curriculum delivery, assessment, examinations, certification and academic quality.
• Ensure programmes offered remain relevant, competitive and aligned with industry needs.
• Monitor teaching and learning standards and drive continuous improvement in academic outcomes.
• Work closely with academic teams to address performance gaps and strengthen student outcomes.

People & Operational Leadership

• Provide leadership to teaching, administrative and support teams across the five campuses.
• Set clear performance expectations and ensure effective performance management.
• Oversee recruitment, staff development, succession planning and employee engagement.
• Ensure effective coordination of campus operations, facilities, student affairs and support services.
• Promote strong communication and collaboration between the different campuses.

Business & Growth Leadership

• Take an active role in driving student recruitment, enrolment, retention and overall institutional growth.
• Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue and strengthen the institution’s market position.
• Identify new business opportunities, partnerships and programmes that can contribute to institutional growth.
• Work closely with Sales & Marketing teams to achieve enrolment and revenue targets.
• Monitor campus performance and ensure each branch contributes to overall business objectives.
• Use data, financial performance and market trends to guide strategic decisions.

Governance & Performance

• Monitor performance across all five campuses using clear KPIs and regular reporting.
• Ensure effective use of institutional resources and proper financial controls.
• Identify operational and performance risks and implement appropriate corrective measures.
• Provide regular reports to the Board/Management on academic, operational and financial performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration, Management or a relevant field.
• A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
• Relevant professional qualifications in education, TVET, management or leadership will be an advantage.
• At least 5 years’ experience in senior management, preferably within a TVET college, training institution or similar environment.
• Demonstrated experience in TVET accreditation, compliance and institutional quality management.
• Proven ability to lead multiple campuses, branches or geographically dispersed teams.
• Strong understanding of academic administration and student management.
• Demonstrated experience in business development, student recruitment, revenue growth or institutional expansion.
• Strong people-management and performance-management skills.
• Excellent communication, decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong understanding of institutional policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work strategically while remaining hands-on with operational matters.
