KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting & Financial Records

  • Record and accurately maintain day-to-day financial transactions.
  • Prepare and maintain accounting records, schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with processing payments, receipts, invoices and other financial transactions.
  • Ensure financial information is accurately captured and properly filed.

💰 Loan & Portfolio Accounting

  • Support the accounting and reconciliation of loan disbursements and repayments.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to customer loan accounts.
  • Assist in monitoring loan-related transactions and outstanding balances.
  • Support the finance team in maintaining accurate portfolio and receivables records.

📊 Reconciliations & Reporting

  • Perform regular bank, cash and ledger reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
  • Assist in preparing periodic financial reports and management schedules.
  • Maintain accurate financial trackers and supporting schedules.

📥 Receivables & Collections Support

  • Support monitoring of customer receivables and outstanding balances.
  • Assist in tracking collections and ensuring payments are correctly allocated.
  • Follow up on discrepancies and unidentified payments where required.

📋 Compliance & Administration

  • Maintain proper documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Support statutory and financial reporting processes.
  • Ensure accounting records are maintained in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Provide general administrative support to the finance department.

👤 THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Minimum Requirements:

✔ Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
CPA qualification or progress towards CPA will be an added advantage.
✔ Previous experience in accounting, finance or financial operations.
✔ Experience within microfinance, lending, SACCOs or other financial services environments will be a strong advantage.
✔ Good understanding of bank and ledger reconciliations.
✔ Strong numerical and analytical skills.
✔ Good knowledge of MS Excel/Google Sheets and accounting systems.
✔ Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
✔ Ability to work with confidential financial and customer information.
✔ Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
✔ High level of integrity, accountability and professionalism.
