Medical Technical College Principal – Job Overview

Our client, a growing Medical and Technical Training College in Kenya, is seeking to recruit a competent, experienced and results-driven Medical & Technical College Principal / Manager to provide strategic leadership and oversee the institution’s overall management and operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring effective academic administration, staff supervision, institutional compliance, student recruitment, resource management and the overall growth and performance of the college.

This position requires an individual with strong leadership and administrative capabilities, a good understanding of training institution operations and the ability to coordinate different departments while maintaining high standards of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

The Medical and Technical College Principal / Manager will be responsible for:

• Providing strategic and operational leadership in the overall management and administration of the college.
• Overseeing daily institutional operations and ensuring effective coordination of academic and administrative functions.
• Coordinating academic programmes and monitoring curriculum implementation, training delivery and academic standards.
• Supervising, guiding and appraising teaching and non-teaching staff to promote accountability and improved performance.
• Driving student recruitment, enrolment and retention initiatives to support institutional growth.
• Ensuring compliance with applicable education, training and institutional regulatory requirements.
• Developing, implementing and reviewing institutional policies, procedures and operational plans.
• Overseeing institutional budgets, resource utilisation and administrative functions.
• Promoting high standards of training delivery, student welfare, discipline and customer service.
• Monitoring institutional performance and implementing measures to improve operational efficiency.
• Identifying opportunities for institutional development, partnerships and expansion of training programmes.
• Maintaining effective relationships with students, staff, parents, regulatory bodies and other relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications and Requirements

Interested candidates should meet the following requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Medical/Health Sciences, Business Administration, Business Management or a related field.
• At least two (2) years of experience managing or running a college or training institution.
• Must be 30 years of age or above.
• Demonstrated experience in institutional leadership, staff supervision and administration.
• A good understanding of academic administration, curriculum coordination and training institution operations.
• Knowledge of TVET and TVETA regulatory requirements will be an added advantage.
• Strong communication, organisational, interpersonal and decision-making skills.
• Ability to coordinate teams, manage institutional resources and drive performance.
• Demonstrated ability to support student enrolment, institutional growth and continuous improvement.
