About the Role

The Fresh Produce & Ripening Officer will be responsible for managing the quality, handling, and ripening processes of fresh produce, ensuring optimal product condition from sourcing to dispatch. This role is critical in maintaining product standards, minimizing losses, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee receiving, inspection, and grading of fresh produce
• Manage ripening processes (e.g., bananas, avocados) to meet market demand
• Monitor product quality and ensure compliance with food safety standards
• Implement proper storage, handling, and inventory management practices
• Track and reduce post-harvest losses and wastage
• Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, and logistics teams
• Maintain accurate records of stock, quality checks, and ripening cycles
• Ensure hygiene and safety standards are adhered to at all times

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Food Science, or a related field
• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in fresh produce handling or ripening operations
• Strong understanding of post-harvest handling and quality control practices
• Experience with ripening techniques and cold chain management is an added advantage
• Knowledge of food safety standards and compliance requirements
