Job Overview

A well-established TVET institution in Kenya is seeking an experienced, strategic and results-driven professional for the position of General Manager. The role provides senior management leadership, strengthens organisational performance and drives growth, quality, operational effectiveness and accountability across several branches.

The successful candidate will coordinate key organisational functions, implement strategic and operational priorities, strengthen management accountability and ensure progress towards approved performance, growth, quality and compliance objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior management leadership and coordination across several branches and key organisational functions.
  • Drive organisational growth, performance and operational effectiveness.
  • Lead management teams and ensure accountability for agreed targets, KPIs and deliverables.
  • Drive student recruitment, enrolment and organisational growth objectives.
  • Oversee academic, administrative and service-delivery performance.
  • Strengthen performance management, accountability and management discipline.
  • Ensure quality assurance, regulatory compliance and operational readiness.
  • Ensure effective utilisation of financial, human and physical resources.
  • Coordinate implementation of organisational policies, operational plans and management decisions.
  • Strengthen risk management, service quality and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain productive relationships with regulators, industry partners and other key stakeholders.
  • Monitor organisational performance and ensure timely corrective action where required.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Education, Medical and Health Sciences, Business Administration, Management or another relevant field from a recognised institution.
  • A master’s degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • A valid TVETA Trainer/Instructor Licence is mandatory.
  • Recognised Pedagogy Certification is mandatory.
  • Strong senior management and leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated management experience within the TVET, education or training sector.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex operations.
  • A demonstrated track record in organisational growth and performance improvement.
  • Strong understanding of TVET quality assurance, regulatory compliance and institutional governance.
  • Strong strategic planning, performance management and people-management capabilities.
  • Sound financial, operational and resource-management skills.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, stakeholder-engagement and decision-making skills.

Key Competencies

The ideal candidate should demonstrate strategic leadership, general management, performance management, operational excellence, people leadership, quality and regulatory compliance, resource management, stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, decision-making, growth orientation, accountability and results orientation.
