KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely and professionally transport guests, management, staff and authorized persons to designated destinations.
- Provide airport transfers, hotel transfers, business transfers, sightseeing trips and other guest transportation services as required.
- Receive guests professionally and assist with luggage during pick-up and drop-off.
- Ensure guests are transported safely, comfortably and on time.
- Maintain a high level of courtesy, professionalism and discretion when interacting with guests.
- Provide guests with basic information about Nairobi, including major tourist attractions, shopping areas, restaurants, business districts and entertainment destinations.
- Assist guests with directions, recommendations and general local information where appropriate.
- Plan routes effectively and use navigation tools to avoid unnecessary delays.
- Demonstrate excellent knowledge of Nairobi roads, estates, hotels, business districts, airports and major tourist destinations.
- Keep up to date with traffic conditions, road diversions, construction and alternative routes within Nairobi.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections before commencing duties.
- Ensure assigned vehicles are clean, presentable, fueled and in good operating condition.
- Report mechanical problems, accidents, damage or other vehicle issues immediately.
- Maintain accurate vehicle, mileage, fuel and trip records.
- Observe all traffic laws, road safety regulations and company policies.
- Practice defensive driving at all times.
- Ensure guest luggage and personal belongings are handled carefully and securely.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding guests, their movements, conversations and personal information.
- Coordinate closely with the Front Office and other departments regarding guest movements and transportation schedules.
- Maintain punctuality and communicate promptly in case of delays or changes to scheduled trips.
- Assist in emergency situations and escalate incidents appropriately.
- Ensure the vehicle is parked safely and securely when not in use.
- Perform other driving and guest-support duties assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Kenyan Driving Licence with Class D endorsement – mandatory.
- Minimum 3 years’ proven professional driving experience, preferably in a hotel, hospitality, tourism, corporate or executive transport environment.
- Previous experience driving hotel guests, tourists, expatriates or corporate clients will be a strong advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of Nairobi and its surrounding areas.
- Strong knowledge of major Nairobi tourist attractions, including:
- Nairobi National Park
- Giraffe Centre
- Karen Blixen Museum
- Bomas of Kenya
- Nairobi National Museum
- Nairobi Safari Walk
- Karura Forest
- Karen and Lang’ata areas
- Major shopping malls and entertainment destinations
- Good knowledge of major hotels, airports, business districts and key residential areas in Nairobi.
- Ability to confidently navigate Nairobi using Google Maps and other navigation applications.
- Strong knowledge of alternative routes and ability to navigate Nairobi traffic efficiently.
- Proven defensive driving skills and strong road-safety awareness.
- Clean and responsible driving record.
- Good understanding of basic vehicle maintenance and daily vehicle checks.
- Ability to identify and promptly report basic mechanical or safety issues.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of Kiswahili is essential.
- Ability to communicate confidently and respectfully with both local and international guests.
- Strong customer service orientation and a welcoming personality.
- Professional appearance, excellent grooming and good personal hygiene.
- High level of integrity, honesty, discretion and confidentiality.
- Reliable, punctual and responsible.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure, including during heavy traffic or unexpected situations.
- Physically fit and able to assist guests with luggage.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
- Willingness to work extended hours when guest schedules require it.
- Basic computer and smartphone skills.
- First Aid/Basic Life Support training will be an added advantage.
- Experience with executive vehicles, luxury vehicles or high-end hospitality transportation will be an added advantage.
